If you're a resident of Elliott, please read the most recent blog post from the pittsburgh Hoagie. This is something that really bothers me about the neighborhood. I hope the city does something about these properties. The worst part about this is, it's only a fraction of the run down, abandoned properties in the neighborhood.

What does he do with all those bottles he picks up?
Recycles them. I have been on the walks with the guy.
I think that was a loaded question.
I think what Pittsburgh Hoagie is doing for the Elliott neighborhood is commendable. He is the only one in the hood doing anything. It is a very depressing, ugly neighborhood and my dream is that a developer will come through and buy everything out and build up. It is a forgotten paradise. Too much blight there, but it has a lot of potential.
That is a stupid question, "what does he do with those bottles he picks up?". What are you doing for your neighborhood?
West end /Elliott was a viberant wonderful place. The park was a joy on 4th of July. It is ony a few minutes away from downtown.Today, no one feels it is their job to pick up their trash or plant a few flowers. It costs nothing to pick up your own trash and put it in a bag. It needs a good grocery store so folks can walk to the store and purchase fresh items.
Anon 10/15: The West End needs a whole heck of a lot more than just a grocery store. It's been in a preciptous decline for the past decade due to quality families moving out, non-quality, broken families moving in, a terrible public elementary and high school, and, consequently, no jobs and no hope.
Our next mayor needs to do a lot more than put in a new Giant Eagle if the West End doesn't soon become Homewood or Hazelwood of the West...
